Things have gone somewhat according to plan so far this postseason, with the top four seeds in the East advancing to the second round, while the 1-seed and 4-seed advanced in the West.
However, that’s where normalcy ends.
First, the Wolves shocked the NBA world by blowing past the third-seeded Lakers in the first round in just five games, winning three straight after splitting the first two games of the series.
Then, on Sunday, in the final game of the first round, the Warriors dispatched the second-seeded Rockets in Game 7 on Houston’s home floor.
That means that either a 6-seed (Minnesota) or 7-seed (Golden State) will make it to the Western Conference finals, to face either the team with the best record in the regular season (Oklahoma City) or the last team from the West to win the NBA title (Denver).
Lastly, one semi-shocker did take place in the East, with the Pacers knocking off the top-seeded Cavs on Sunday in Game 1 of their East semifinals series.
Cleveland was without All-Star point guard Darius Garland, who has missed three consecutive games with a sprained toe.
