By the time Season 3 of The White Lotus came to its explosive end last month, the show had created quite a stir off-screen thanks to the widespread speculation that something had gone down between Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood during the filming and promotion of the series. If you need reminding, the two play the mismatched couple Rick and Chelsea on the show.
Their co-star Jason Isaacs somewhat fueled the fire when he reflected on the “tensions and difficulties” that had been apparent during filming in a candid interview with the Guardian. He added at the time: “There were alliances that formed and broke, romances that formed and broke, friendships that formed and broke.”
And while the British actor’s comments could, of course, be about anybody, eagle-eyed fans were quick to note that Aimee and Walton had unfollowed each other on Instagram, despite initially appearing to be incredibly close off-screen. Some even went so far as to theorize that Walton had blocked Aimee because her comments no longer show up under his post, although his comments are still visible on hers.
Neither Aimee or Walton have publicly commented on the speculation surrounding their relationship, and by the looks of it, Walton doesn’t plan to anytime soon, with the actor repeatedly shutting down a journalist’s attempts to get him to comment on the feud rumors in a recent interview with the Times UK.
But after a dutiful chat about Walton’s latest movie, The Uninvited, Ed tries his luck again, this time hinged on the fact that Walton is set to host Saturday Night Live next month, which CNN journalist Elizabeth Wagmeister previously suggested that Aimee might make a special appearance on. But when asked if he and Aimee are set for a reconciliation, Walton apparently said nothing.
Walton starts off by telling the journalist: “There is no conversation to be had about that. Sharing politics on social media — it’s in a vacuum,” and when Ed still refuses to back down, Walton is said to have gasped: “What the fuck, Ed! Come on, buddy. Wow.” Meanwhile, one of his publicists says: “We’re going to end it there,” stopping the interview in its tracks.
