Sean Kaufman<\/strong><\/a> is here for comments about his glow up.<\/p>\n

Kaufman, who plays Steven Conklin on Prime Video\u2019s The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em><\/a>, has seen fans\u2019 comments about his look in season 3 and exclusively explained to Us Weekly<\/em> exactly how it came to be.<\/p>\n

Kaufman explained that he was actually not the mastermind behind his long, curly bangs, but gave all the credit to showrunner Jenny Han<\/strong> \u2014 also the author of the beloved book series of the same name \u2014 who had a vision and ran with it.<\/p>\n

\u201cJenny and I had a long conversation about it, which is really funny,\u201d Kaufman, 25, told Us<\/em>. \u201cShe came up to me one day and I think she had seen a TikTok where I was playing in a pool. She was like, \u2018This is what I want.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Summer I Turned Pretty\u2018s Sean Kaufman and Rain Spencer have faith in Steven and Taylor\u2019s romance \u2014 even though the fictional couple wasn\u2019t explored in the book series. \u201cI think [they can go the] distance. We\u2019re going for speed,\u201d Kaufman, 23, joked during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly conducted ahead of the ongoing [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kaufman continued, \u201cMy hair was wet and short and I was like, \u2018What?\u2019 She\u2019s like, \u2018Your hair this season. This is what I want and I know it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Trusting Han, 44, with her vision, Kaufman\u2019s next step was getting his straight hair to curl. \u201cIn very Korean style, they gave me a perm,\u201d he explained. \u201cThey cut my hair and gave me a perm.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kaufman gushed that he\u2019s seen positive fan reactions to his new \u2018do, which he said is \u201calways funny.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recently, a fan ran into Kaufman on a street and told him the series should actually be called \u201cThe Summer the Brother Turned Pretty,\u201d<\/a> which he was into. \u201cI was like, \u2018Let\u2019s go,\u2019\u201d Kaufman told Us.<\/p>\n

After getting the perm, Kaufman only needed minimal time to style his hair before filming. \u201cI just wake up and kind of walk out the house,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
