In My Oxford Year, a new movie based on the novel by Julia Whelan, Sofia Carson (The Life List) plays an American who has always dreamed of studying at Oxford.

When she finally gets her chance, things get complicated quickly when she meets and falls for a handsome professor (Corey Mylchreest of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story). Misunderstandings and angst ensue.

If you loved this Netflix original movie, the platform has plenty of great options to satisfy your dramedy craving.

Check out Watch With Us’ three recommendations, starring Gina Rodriguez, Andrew Garfield and Rachel McAdams.

This romantic dramedy stars Gina Rodriguez as Jenny, a music journalist who just got hired for her dream job — but it requires her to move across the country. When her boyfriend Nate (LaKeith Stanfield) breaks up with her rather than commit to long-distance, Jenny’s best friends (DeWanda Wise and Brittany Snow) take her out for one last wild night on the town in NYC.

As the night gets crazier, all three women confront their relationship issues in an emotional and hilarious adventure. Just as My Oxford Year is a love letter to England, this is a love letter to New York — and the people who turn a city into a home.

This musical starring Andrew Garfield is about following your dreams, just like Anna does in My Oxford Year — and it’s about the serious setbacks that come along the way. Garfield plays Jonathan Larson, the Broadway composer who would eventually write Rent, as he tries to finish his musical while turning the big 3-0.

Alexandra Shipp plays his long-suffering girlfriend Susan, and their up-and-down relationship is explored beautifully (and relatably) through musical numbers. Directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tick, tick… Boom! is a perfect musical accompaniment to My Oxford Year.
