Reba McEntire<\/strong><\/a> has built a wildly successful career<\/a> as one of country music\u2019s most iconic voices\u2014all while embracing her role as a devoted mother and stepmother. The 70-year-old star has one biological son, Shelby Blackstock<\/strong>, and five stepchildren\u2014Coty<\/strong>, Lance<\/strong>, Shawna<\/strong>, Brandon<\/strong><\/a> (who sadly passed away<\/a> in 2025<\/a>), and Chassidy<\/strong>\u2014from her two marriages. Over the years, Reba has often expressed how proud she is of her blended family and the joy her children bring to her life.<\/p>\n

Shelby Blackstock<\/h2>\n

Shelby Blackstock is Reba\u2019s only biological child. He was born in Feb. 1990 to her and her husband at the time, Narvel Blackstock<\/strong><\/a>. After graduating from college, he went on to become a race car driver and has enjoyed a lot of success from it. He has raced at the US F2000 National Championship, the Pro Mazda Championship and the Indy Lights.<\/p>\n

Reba hasn\u2019t hesitated to express her pride for her son over the years and did just that in a memorable Instagram post in Jan. 2020, when he competed in the Daytona International Speedway. \u201cA mama is only as happy as her kids are. Shelby, \u2018Love getting back at Daytona International Speedway for the #roar,\u2019\u201d she wrote in the post.<\/p>\n

In an Oct. 2022 interview, Reba gave some insight into what it was like raising Shelby and admitted she never went easy on him. \u201cWhen we would play games or cards, I\u2019d never let Shelby win,\u201d she recalled to PEOPLE<\/em><\/a>. \u201cHe wouldn\u2019t have learned anything that way. I always told Shelby, \u2018I\u2019ll always love you, but I want other people to like you. So don\u2019t be a little jerk. Don\u2019t be a spoiled brat.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Shelby started a family of his own when he married Marissa Branch<\/strong> in Feb. 2022. The couple met on the dating app Tinder in 2014 and were friends for two years before they decided to start a romance. They spoke to People about their marriage and relationship after their wedding. \u201cWe\u2019ve known each other for so long, from both a \u2018just friends\u2019 to a dating perspective,\u201d they said. \u201cTackling whatever life throws our way as husband and wife \u2014 creating a family and legacy, together \u2014 excites us more than anything.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Coty Battles<\/h2>\n

Coty Battles became Reba\u2019s stepson when she married his dad, Charlie Battles<\/strong>, in 1976. He reportedly followed in his father\u2019s footsteps when he became a wrestler but eventually settled down as a rancher. Although he\u2019s pretty private about his life, he settled down in Waco, TX with his girlfriend Amy Huffman<\/strong>, in 2016, according to his Facebook page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lance Battles<\/h2>\n

Lance Battles is Reba\u2019s second stepchild from her fist marriage to Charlie, whom she divorced in 1987. He has kept a private life over the years, so not much is known about him. One of the most recent times he was mentioned in a publication was in his father\u2019s obituary after he passed away from heart failure and stroke complications in 2013. At the time, Donna Granger<\/strong>, who married Charlie and became Lance and Coty\u2019s second stepmom, was also mentioned.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Shawna Rene Blackstock<\/h2>\n

Shawna Rene Blackstock became another one of Reba\u2019s stepchildren when the artist married her dad, Narvel Blackstock<\/strong>, in 1989. Like Lance, she has led a very private life and although she\u2019s active on Instagram, her account is private.<\/p>\n

Brandon Blackstock<\/h2>\n

Brandon Blackstock, born in 1976, is the son of Narvel Blackstock<\/strong><\/a> and was perhaps Reba\u2019s most well-known stepchild. He made a name for himself as a successful talent manager<\/a>, working with major artists\u2014including his then-wife, Kelly Clarkson<\/strong><\/a>. Brandon and Kelly were married from 2013 until their divorce in 2021 and shared two children<\/a> together: River Rose<\/strong> and Remington Alexander<\/strong>. He also had two older children, Savannah<\/strong> and Seth<\/strong>, from his first marriage to Melissa Ashworth<\/strong>, which ended in divorce in 2012.<\/p>\n

Brandon passed away<\/a> in August 2025<\/a> at the age of 48, following a private battle with cancer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Chassidy Celeste Blackstock<\/h2>\n

Chassidy Celeste Blackstock is another one of Narvel\u2019s children who became Reba\u2019s stepchild in 1989. She was born in 1978 and like some of her siblings, she\u2019s chosen to keep her life as private as possible. She has been seen joining Reba for events in the past, like the one in the pic above, however, and the two seem very close.<\/p>\n
