Taylor Frankie Paul\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> ex Dakota Mortensen<\/strong> has seemingly reacted to news of her casting as the next Bachelorette.<\/p>\n

\u201cHad so many curve balls today and every time I am always reminded there is nothing more important than God and family \u2764\ufe0f,\u201d Dakota, 32, wrote via his Instagram Storie<\/a>s on Wednesday, September 10, alongside a selfie. \u201cLife is too short.\u201d<\/p>\n

During an appearance on the \u201cCall Her Daddy\u201d podcast earlier on Wednesday, Taylor, 31, was announced as the new lead<\/a> of the reality dating show, which is expected to air sometime in 2026.<\/p>\n

ABC is placing The Bachelor<\/em> on pause in order to bring The Bachelorette<\/em> back to follow Taylor on her search for love. Hulu viewers have previously had a front row seat to Taylor\u2019s tumultuous love life on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Speaking to Us Weekly<\/em> <\/a>on Wednesday, Taylor confirmed she hadn\u2019t personally told Dakota about her new role.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have not confirmed it with him. It\u2019s just not something that\u2019s been on, like, my priority list to confirm with him,\u201d Taylor exclusively told Us.<\/em> \u201cI don\u2019t know exactly how he\u2019ll react or feel, but he does know that we opened the gates of dating other people. [He\u2019ll] probably [be] sad. I assume that it\u2019s like, \u2018Whoa, she\u2019s gonna be dating people, a lot, and then also, in front of me,\u2019 and that\u2019s probably gonna be kind of hard to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cI can\u2019t speak for him, but I\u2019d assume it wouldn\u2019t be the best news he\u2019s heard on that day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before the show premiered in September 2024, Taylor made headlines when she was involved in a \u201csoft swinging\u201d sex scandal while still married to Tate Paul<\/strong>. The controversy involved Taylor hooking up with couples including<\/a> Miranda McWhorter<\/strong> and her then-husband, Chase McWhorter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Taylor and Tate, who share daughter Indy, 7, and son Ocean, 4, called it quits in the aftermath of the drama. She then found love with Dakota Mortensen, who was Taylor\u2019s first boyfriend since her divorce.<\/p>\n

Taylor and Dakota, 32, faced major ups and down<\/a>s \u2014 including a domestic violence arrest \u2014 which was documented on season 1 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives<\/em>. In February 2023, Taylor was arrested for domestic violence.<\/p>\n

The reality star was ultimately charged with aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse with injury and criminal mischief after the incident. Taylor pleaded guilty six months later to aggravated assault, while the other four charges were dismissed with prejudice. She reached a plea deal the following month.<\/p>\n

Season 1 captured Taylor and Dakota trying to make their relationship work<\/a> after her legal issues. They briefly got back together before their son Ever\u2019s arrival in March 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to take my time with this time around, this [would be] my second marriage. It is going to be very important to me, and I don\u2019t want to end up in another situation of being divorced,\u201d Taylor exclusively told Us<\/em>\u00a0in September 2024 about potentially getting engaged to Dakota. \u201cSo, I really just want everything to be really solid and have a foundation of trust. And so I feel like that takes time. I would love for that to be the end goal. But right now, I think building it up to that is where I\u2019m at.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor also discussed how she and Dakota were preparing to watch<\/a> their scenes on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like I might\u2019ve vented to my mom and been a little harsh \u2014 and he\u2019s very sensitive \u2014 so I feel like it could be a lot harder for him,\u201d she continued. \u201cAlso it could be triggering, too, to bring up these conversations. Especially, I think I\u2019ve heard the [season] cliffhanger, so that in itself stirs up some stuff. We are doing good today, we\u2019re going through work, so I really hope that not too much comes out.\u201d<\/p>\n

By the time production started on season 2, which aired in May, Taylor and Dakota pulled the plug on their relationship again after he was accused of being unfaithful again. They admitted to still having feelings for each other but didn\u2019t get back together.<\/p>\n

Ali Fedotowsky and Emily Maynard are among the former leads who broke up with their final picks, only to find The One after starring on the show. \u201cI went [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve obviously come a long way to navigate [coparenting],\u201d Taylor shared with Us<\/em> in May. \u201cIt\u2019s different from my first husband because there\u2019s obviously a friendship there. We adjusted. Whereas [with] Dakota, everything\u2019s fresh. It\u2019s something that we necessarily didn\u2019t want to do but needed to separate.\u201d<\/p>\n
