Vin Diesel Feud<\/h2>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

In August 2016, Johnson aired his grievances with Diesel with an Instagram post where he complained about his costar\u2019s work ethic (without directly naming him).<\/p>\n

\u201cSome [male costars] conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t,” Johnson wrote. “The ones that don’t are too chicken s*** to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this [Fast & Furious<\/em>] movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling \u2014 you’re right.”<\/p>\n

Diesel responded in 2017 by telling USA Today<\/em><\/a> that the public had blown his dispute with Johnson out of proportion.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think the world really realizes how close we are, in a weird way,” Diesel insisted. “I think some things may be blown out of proportion. I don’t think that was his intention. I know he appreciates how much I work this franchise. In my house, he\u2019s Uncle Dwayne.”<\/p>\n

The actor then said, \u201cI protect the franchise. I protect everybody, including Dwayne. I protected Dwayne more than he\u2019ll ever know. And it doesn\u2019t matter. He doesn\u2019t have to know. But he appreciates it. He knows it. Dwayne has only got one Vin in his life. Dwayne Johnson only has one big brother in this film world and that\u2019s me.”<\/p>\n

The feud seemingly blew over after the release of 2019\u2019s Hobbs & Shaw<\/em> until Diesel told Men\u2019s Health<\/em><\/a> in 2021 that he\u2019d used \u201ctough love\u201d to motivate his costar on set.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy approach at the time was a lot of tough love to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be,\u201d he said. \u201cAs a producer to say, \u2018OK, we\u2019re going to take Dwayne Johnson, who\u2019s associated with wrestling, and we\u2019re going to force this cinematic world, audience members, to regard his character as someone that they don\u2019t know\u2019 \u2014 Hobbs hits you like a ton of bricks.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Diesel expressed hopes that Hobbs would be re-integrated into the main Fast & Furious<\/em> films following his 2019 spinoff, Johnson publicly declined the invitation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wished them well,\u201d he told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> in 2021. \u201cI wish them well on Fast 9<\/em>. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10<\/em> and Fast 11<\/em> and the rest of the Fast & Furious<\/em> movies they do that will be without me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite his vow, Johnson did reprise his role<\/a> as Hobbs for an uncredited mid-credits cameo in Fast X<\/em> in 2023. Fast X<\/em> director Louis Leterrier<\/strong> took credit for Johnson and Diesel\u2019s reconciliation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe peace treaty \u2026 I kind of [brokered it]. We all did. Ultimately, the movie did,\u201d Leterrier told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> in 2023. \u201cWe sort of looked at each other from across the room and winked a few months back, saying, \u2018We should work together.\u2019 And then I had this idea and I presented it to the producers and the studio. And then we reached out to Dwayne and his team, and said, \u2018Just come and watch the movie. You have to love the movie first.\u2019 So, he came to see the movie and really loved it, and then we started talking. It was very smooth.”<\/p>\n

Johnson said via an Instagram<\/a> video in 2023 that it was \u201cincredibly personally gratifying and satisfying and exciting\u201d to see Fast & Furious<\/em> fans excited by his return.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all the secret of Hobbs being back \u2026 that was a secret that was impossible to keep,\u201d he said. \u201cDespite us having our differences, me and Vin, we\u2019ve been like brothers for years, and despite our differences, when you lead with \u2014 number one, resolve \u2014 but also you think about the future and plans that are much bigger than ourselves. Those bigger plans are the buildouts. They are the North Star.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
