Some movies just don\u2019t get the love they deserve. Maybe they\u2019re ahead of their time, maybe they go straight to VOD instead of theaters.<\/p>\n

But luckily, we live in an age where they can get a second life on streaming.<\/p>\n

On Max<\/a>, the streaming home of HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery, there are tons of underrated movies to watch in May. Watch With Us has selected three films that are worth checking out now.<\/p>\n

\u2018Dicks: The Musical\u2019 (2023)<\/h3>\n

This outrageous, very R-rated musical comedy didn\u2019t get the attention it deserved during its short theatrical run. It\u2019s not for the kids, but if you\u2019re a fan of The Rocky Horror Picture Show<\/em> or the films of John Waters<\/strong>, it\u2019s a must-see. Comedians Josh Sharp<\/strong> and Aaron Jackson<\/strong>, who originally created the story as an off-Broadway musical, play Craig and Trevor, two womanizing alpha males who only care about being the best in business. But when they realize that they are \u201cf***ing identical twins!!\u201d \u2014 they don\u2019t look alike, but no one in the movie questions it \u2014 they embark on a mission to reunite their mother and father \u00e0 la The Parent Trap<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The true star power in this movie comes from two comedy veterans: Nathan Lane<\/strong><\/a> (The Producers<\/em>) as their recently out-of-the-closet dad and Megan Mullally<\/strong> (Will and Grace<\/em>) as their eccentric, agoraphobic mother. Dicks<\/em> is full of filthy humor, hilarious performances and a catchy number by Megan Thee Stallion<\/strong><\/a>, who plays Craig and Trevor\u2019s boss.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHBO has always been the primary destination for movie lovers and its streaming service, Max, has a deep, diverse library of classics like Speed with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock to more recent hits like We Live in Time with Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield. In April, Max started to stream several noteworthy movies from [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

M3GAN<\/em> was a horror comedy phenomenon about an evil AI that tries to kill its creators. But in Companion<\/em>, the AI is the hero instead of the villain. Sophie Thatcher<\/strong> (Yellowjackets<\/em>) plays Iris, a young woman hopelessly in love with her boyfriend Josh (Jack Quaid<\/strong><\/a>, The Boys<\/em>). But a weekend getaway with Josh\u2019s friends goes badly wrong when Iris learns that she is a \u201ccompanion robot,\u201d an AI programmed to love Josh. Iris\u2019 bloody quest for her autonomy is very scary, occasionally funny and surprisingly moving.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe comedy lineup on HBO and Max is a film lover\u2019s delight because its library of movies goes back decades into the past. Most of the other streamers don\u2019t have many movies made before 1980. That\u2019s why it\u2019s so refreshing to have the option to go back even further. Watch With Us\u2019 selections for the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This horror comedy\u2019s short theatrical release window kept it from getting its due, but we think it\u2019s both funnier and smarter than the more popular M3GAN<\/em>. Here\u2019s hoping with enough streaming traffic, Companion<\/em>\u00a0might get a sequel<\/a> in the near future.<\/p>\n
