Just because Netflix credited Forever<\/em> as a limited series doesn\u2019t mean season 2 isn\u2019t in the works.<\/p>\n

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly<\/em>, lead actor Michael Cooper Jr.<\/strong> weighed in on a possible renewal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that depending on how it\u2019s received, we may be able to come back for season 2,\u201d Cooper Jr., who plays Justin, teased. \u201cI think [showrunner] Mara [Brock Akil]<\/strong> is in the works of writing some things for season 2.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cooper Jr. was hopeful about a return<\/a>, adding, \u201cWe never know. But that\u2019s something that I\u2019m hopeful for his journey to go that way. So we\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

Based on Judy Blume<\/strong>\u2018s 1975 novel, Forever<\/em> follows the love story<\/a> between a teenage couple. The Netflix version changed a few key details, including moving the setting to Los Angeles in 2018 with Keisha (Lovie Simone<\/strong>) and Justin at the center of the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cForever really was a tale that kind of tested the times and stayed true. Love for teenagers looks kind of like this, so it is cool seeing how we\u2019re now in a new age and this is a reimagination, but just in a completely different era,\u201d Simone, 26, explained to Us<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s nice to see it revamped a little bit. We\u2019re still honest to the book and honest to the points that it was trying to make there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Simone showed support for more<\/a> episodes of Forever<\/em>. \u201cI would love to see what [Keisha] turns into. I would love to see what she would teach me,\u201d she noted. \u201c[But] I liked that ending also because even if it\u2019s not the end forever, it was a very mature stopping point for the both of them. I feel like they were in places in their lives where they said, \u2018Hey, maybe this is not going to be helpful for the things that I have to consider and do for myself in this portion of my life.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Cooper Jr., meanwhile, gave Akil her flowers for executing her vision.<\/p>\n
