Foo Fighters<\/a>, announced he was suddenly fired from the band in May 2025 after two years with them. The other band members have yet to comment on Josh\u2019s firing at the time of publication, but the veteran musician shared a public statement to his Instagram.<\/p>\n\u201cThe Foo Fighters called me on Monday to let me know they\u2019ve decided \u2018to go in a different direction with their drummer,\u2019\u201d Josh wrote in his Instagram post, adding that \u201cno reason was given\u201d behind the band\u2019s decision to let him go.<\/p>\n
Josh added that in his 40 years of drumming professionally, \u201cI\u2019ve never been let go from a band.\u201d He then acknowledged that he was \u201cnot angry,\u201d but he was still \u201ca bit shocked and disappointed.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBut as most of you know, I\u2019ve always worked freelance and bounced between bands, so I\u2019m fine,\u201d he reassured his fans. Josh went on to say that, despite the sting of being fired, he \u201cenjoyed the past two years with [the Foo Fighters], both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band.\u201d<\/p>\n

The drummer was raised by his parents, mom Patricia, a writer and pianist, and dad, Stan, who worked as the bandleader of the Walt Disney World Marching Band. Josh grew up spending time in the theme parks while his father worked. Eventually, Stan was transferred to lead the Disneyland Band in Anaheim, California, and Josh had the chance to march with the band, holding toy instruments.<\/p>\n
