The Today<\/em>\u00a0show<\/a> has recently undergone changes, but fans have been concerned about the whereabouts of one co-host: Sheinelle Jones<\/strong><\/a>. The TV personality has\u00a0been absent<\/a> from the NBC program, and viewers were given an explanation in May 2025. Hollywood Life<\/strong> is breaking down Sheinelle\u2019s absence below.<\/p>\n Sheinelle is an accomplished journalist, news anchor and TV correspondent. She landed her first broadcast job with WICS. The Philadelphia native eventually earned her position at NBC News after working with various news stations over the years.<\/p>\n Fans of Today<\/em> were concerned when they didn\u2019t see Sheinelle during Hoda Kotb<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s last day on the morning show. Hoda left<\/a> the program after nearly 20 years<\/a> of being on the air, and she and Sheinelle developed a close work friendship. Sheinelle even wished Hoda \u201cHappy Birthday\u201d in August 2024 by writing a heartfelt Instagram<\/a> caption, which read, \u201cTo my friend who exudes joy and love every single morning. Love you @hodakotb !! I know I say it all of the time, but you make my heart happy.\u201d<\/p>\n On January 15, 2025, Sheinelle broke her silence on her absence and revealed that she was dealing with a \u201cfamily health matter\u201d in an Instagram<\/a> post.<\/p>\n \u201cHi everybody \u2026 I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I\u2019ve been absent from the show,\u201d she began \u201cI want to share with you that I\u2019m taking time to deal with a family health matter. \u201cIt\u2019s not lost on [me] how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today Show<\/em> family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I\u2019ll see you soon.\u201d<\/p>\n Less than four months later, Sheinelle\u2019s colleague Dylan Dreyer<\/strong> shared an update on her whereabouts during an interview with E! News<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s doing all right. She\u2019s hanging in there,\u201d Dylan said. \u201cWe\u2019re praying for her and her family. You know, she\u2019s just going through a tough time with her family. \u2026 We talk to her every day. One of us on the team talks to her every single day, and we\u2019re there to support her, and we\u2019ll welcome her back with open arms the second she can get back to us.\u201d<\/p>\n In May 2025, it was revealed that Sheinelle was grieving the loss of her husband.<\/p>\n It\u2019s unclear when Sheinelle will return to Today, <\/em>but she indicated that it would be \u201csoon\u201d in her January 15 Instagram caption.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n However, Today<\/em> isn\u2019t rushing Sheinelle to return. In May 2025, her co-hosts announced the death of her husband, Uche Ojeh<\/strong><\/a>, after he battled the brain cancer known as Glioblastoma.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are no words for the pain that we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children<\/a>,\u201d co-host Savannah Guthrie<\/strong> said on the air. \u201cUche was an incredible person. We all loved him. \u2026 We just want to say Sheinelle, Kayin, Uche and Clara and the Ojeh family: we are with you, we love you. You are our family and we\u2019re just sending all of our love to you right now.\u201d<\/p>\n Sheinelle has been working on the Today<\/em> show since 2014.
