Former UFC star Ben Askren\u2019<\/strong>s wife Amy Askren<\/strong> asked his friends to send \u201cprayers\u201d following her husband\u2019s hospitalization for \u201csevere pneumonia.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou may have heard that my husband Ben is going through something,\u201d Amy wrote via Facebook on Saturday, June 7. \u201cHe developed severe pneumonia which came on very suddenly. He\u2019s currently in the hospital and unable to respond to anything at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to thank her followers for sending \u201cprayers for healing and for peace\u201d during this very difficult time for her family.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are trying to keep life as normal as possible for our [three] children currently and doing our best to support them thoughtfully so please refrain from discussing it with them for now,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tChuck Liddell has reportedly finalized his divorce from wife Heidi Liddell. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, 55, and Heidi, 45, finalized their divorce in April after the MMA fighter initially filed in 2021 following 10 years of marriage. According to CBS News<\/em><\/a>, Ben, 40, developed pneumonia after initially being diagnosed with a staph infection. Amy released her statement amid rumors about Ben\u2019s condition spreading within the MMA community via social media.<\/p>\n

UFC legend Chael Sonnen<\/strong> initially responded to the community by confirming via X<\/a>, \u201cBen is alive and prayers are wanted. Family choosing privacy at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Askrens have been married since April 2010 and share three children<\/a>: daughters Alex and Andy, as well as son Ozi. The most recent episode of his \u201cFunky and the Champ\u201d podcast was published on May 27, and he shared some intense fight training<\/a> via Instagram the following day.<\/p>\n

Ben signed with UFC in 2018, after holding Bellator\u2019s Welterweight World Championship and achieving an undefeated streak for more than a decade. He retired from MMA in 2019. More recently, Ben lost a highly-publicized boxing match<\/a> against Jake Paul<\/strong> by TKO in the first round in April 2021.<\/p>\n

The veteran fighter announced in May that he\u2019d signed an exclusive contract with Real American Freestyle, the new wrestling company owned by Hulk Hogan<\/strong> and former World Championship Wrestling executive Eric Bischoff<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been waiting to wrestle,\u201d he explained via X<\/a> in May. \u201cI\u2019ve missed competition. Like, I love fighting but I don\u2019t have time for that anymore. I definitely don\u2019t do any jiu-jitsu. I\u2019m going to wrestle someone! I\u2019m going to whoop some of these young whipper-snappers! I\u2019m going to show [my opponents] what the f*** it\u2019s all about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ben revealed that \u201cone of [his] life\u2019s missions\u201d was to help a \u201cprofessional wrestling league succeed in America,\u201d so he jumped at the chance to join Hogan\u2019s federation.<\/p>\n
